Pristine Pups Terms and Conditions

Pet Examinations

During the grooming process, all care is taken to ensure the health of your dog. I will examine your dog for lumps, bumps and skin conditions before the grooming session. This is done by a seven-point check.

I am not liable for any pre-existing conditions or problems found during grooming. I will inform you of anything I find and advise you if I think a visit to your vet is necessary.

If your dog has any medical issues, please let me know so that I can take this into consideration when they visit.

Groomers are no longer permitted to empty anal glands and would advise a visit to the vets. As a result, I am not insured to carry out or offer this service.

Payment

I accept debit cards, all major credit cards and cash only.  Payment is due at the time of visiting the salon. I do not offer credit accounts.

Aggressive Dogs

My number one priority is your dog’s welfare.  I reserve the right to refuse to groom aggressive or difficult dogs or those with behaviour problems.  You must agree to inform us if your dog is known to be aggressive or has bitten anyone.  I am able to handle difficult pets, but only if I am aware and prepared.  If a dog is very traumatized or stressed about the grooming process, I will stop and recommend you speak with your vet about medication to help calm your dog so I can groom safely.

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior pet or a pet with health problems. Grooming may expose hidden medical conditions or aggregate existing ones during or after the grooming process. Because senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress.

Fleas

Please note that dogs with fleas cannot be accepted. If your dog has fleas, please threat them prior to visiting the salon.

Should your dog have fleas which are discovered after the groom has started a flea surcharge of £20 will be added, this covers the cost of bathing your dog using an insecticidal shampoo and thoroughly cleansing the salon.

De-matting Policy

I believe in humane grooming and I will strictly abide by the Animal Welfare Act 1996.

I will only de-mat or consider shaving if I believe your dog will feel no pain.

It is the owners’ duty of care towards their pet to maintain the coat between professional grooming sessions. If owners fail to attend to their pet’s coat, then in the interest of the animal I will shave off matted areas to prevent unnecessary suffering. I will be more than happy to show you how to look after your pet’s coat at home.

If and when a dog is presented at the salon in a severely matted condition, it is my policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. As to de-mat would cause your dog tremendous stress, discomfort and often leaves a very thin and damaged coat. Shaving the coat is kinder to your dog and less traumatic than hours of unnecessary de-mating, which will put them off grooming for life.

Occasionally a rash, nicks, sores, abrasions, itchy skin and even behavioural changes where your dog adjusts to being free of their matted coat may occur after the groom.  Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should have sun screen applied frequently or should be kept out of the sun until their coat grows sufficiently to protect their skin.

Due to the lengthy and tedious nature of de-matting, additional time will be charged. I will inform you of this as soon as possible.

Vaccinations

By booking an appointment you agree that your dog has had all relevant vaccinations, flea and worm treatments to keep all salon users safe.

Data Protection

Client data will be treated in accordance with principles of the Data Protection Act and will not be shared with third parties.

Photographs

Unless specifically stated then I can use photos on my website and social media platforms of your dog before, during and after the groom.
